I'll share one story.
The Real Cowboy Way of Life.

Last year on my way home from the celebration of Matt getting a wife.
I saw a site that made me wonder, What happened to the cowboy way of life.
I came up out of the Cheyenne river bottom after crossing the bridge
Somewhere’s west of the placed we used to call Sioux Ridge.

It almost made my blood boil to see such a site
Sure wrecked the beauty of that morning with the sun shining bright.

Looked like the beginnin of a day long roundup.
3… 4 wheelers and a half grown pup.
Now when I lived in that neck of the woods in 79
Round ups were a horseback  with the dog trailin behind.

Dogs get lazy they got to ride now,
And Let the 4 wheeler chase the dang cow?
What happened to the peace and quiet of a Sunday morning ride
Getting close to a mother deer with a fawn along side.

Smelling the wild onions and riding slow enjoyin the wildlife.
Eased a mans mind and helped him forget the daily strife.
What’s happened in the last thirty years, where’s all the old cowboys gone?
This younger generation’s went to college and they learned it all wrong.

Bouncin along on a noisy machine in a big hurry to get done
Probably so they can get home and find something else to do for fun.
Now back in my days we rounded up on a week day.
And kept Sunday for peace and quiet and time to pray.

I hear  today there’s some using Motorcycles cause they can ride better in a cow trail.
Now where’s the dog ride, or does he just stay home waggin his tail.
Machines stead of horses ain’t the way to go
Your better to work with a cow at her speed, which is slow.

Move them cows easy  and they work better with a lot less strife.
Do things the cowboy way and you’ll enjoy more of life.
Now Joe here married a true cowgirl and she knows how to work with a horse.
And since she’s got  two… Joe will be able learn too, of course.

I  see it all now in my old cowboy mind
Them two riding out to roundup with a dog trailin behind.
He doesn’t know yet how lucky a man he’s gonna be
She’ll make a hand out of him yet, you just wait and see.
